Cant fined anyone who has made this wireless adapter work on linux
i have E mailed tech support

this is the web site for d-link

http://support.dlink.com/products/vi...tid=DWL%2DG510

this is the product description given

The D-Link AirPlus G DWL-G510 PCI Adapter is a wireless PCI adapter featuring the very latest in advanced wireless silicon chip technology to deliver incredibly fast data transfer in the 2.4GHz frequency. The DWL-G510 also works with 802.11b standard wireless devices and when used with other D-Link AirPlus G products delivers throughput speeds capable of handling heavy data payloads. The D-Link AirPlus G DWL-G510 also includes a configuration utility to discover available wireless networks and create and save detailed connectivity profiles for those networks most often accessed.

* Maximum wireless signal rate derived from IEEE Standard 802.11g specifications. Actual data throughput will vary. Network conditions and environmental factors, including volume of network traffic, building materials and construction, and network overhead, lower actual data throughput rate.

anyone know anyone who has a driver or a solution

thanks

Jamison,
Thanks for the links. They'll be helpful in the future.
I've been using the MadWiFi driver (um, the next-to-last version, I understand), very successfully with the DWL-G510 rev B. It's probably different, but you should look for the rev A mark in notes for any driver you try.
I suspect that no distro is really better than any other for wireless drivers. The drivers and hardware come out somewhat faster than the distros are updated, so it's a matter of keeping up with what's available after installation (like with MadWifi or ndiswrapper, or from the hardware maker). Some manufacturers are better than others providing Linux drivers.
The good news is that all the Linux drivers are better than they were when 802.11g first came out.
Good luck

Wireless drivers you say . . .

Well try and look for the ndiswrapper on http://sourceforge.net (do a search in sourceforge)

The ndiswrapper will allow you to use the windows drivers for your wireless in linux.

It worked for me. :-)

jamison20000e 11-28-2005 09:52 PM

im going to try MadWiFi, ndiswrapper and others I'm sure

that is after i get some files backed up

put i am worried that i wont be able to get this card working when i install the windows drivers i must install the driver before i install the hardware
then i have to restart the pc for the driver and
then shut-down and install the DWL-G510 rev.A. Pci adapter
i don't have any experience with wireless cards or any network cards for that mater is this normal
i gess i will try it that way on Linux over and over again any

ndiswrapper sounds promising
