D-Link DWA-643 and Belkin F5D8071 (Belkin N1) Master Mode

Hi,

I'm looking at buying one of the above cards, and was wondering if anyone knew if they worked in master mode (e.g. as an access point). According to the Aircrack-ng site, they support packet injection and monitor mode. Is master mode support solely up to the driver used with the card, or does the card have to physically support it?

Thanks

With injection and monitor mode, your card needs to support it, along with properly patched drivers. For ad-hoc mode, your card needs to support it.

But what about master mode? It seems as if support for it is determined by the driver (DWA-643 uses ath9k, which supports it). I'm just unsure if master mode is required/supported for every wifi card, or if it's up to the manufacturer like monitor/injection is.
