D-Link dns323 NAS for LINUX

Is there a driver available to use the dns323 for backup with Fedora 8?

Not to be too rude (my apologies in advance), but WTF is a dns323?

A link might help you get an answer.

Please provide the requested link.

If you found a driver, please do us the courtesy of posting the info. here -- it might help someone else.

dns-323

Apologies for not knowing how to do this (I'm a 70-year old newbie).

The DNS-323 is a network attached RAID storage device with multimedia streaming servers feeding a D-Link DSM-520 multimedia player to my home theater equipment.

The other two devices on my LAN are a home brew Gigabyte GI1000 powered desktop running Fedora 8 and a Compaq N1000c laptop running WinXP Pro.

I would like to do scheduled backups of the two computers to the NAS.
My research suggests this could probably be done best using rsync.

I was hoping someone has already done this before I have to delve into the world of LINUX/UNIX scripting.

Thanks for your interest.

If you need help posting or finding a link, please just ask.

BTW & FWIW, technically I started w/ these things about 50 years ago. :)

You don't need any kind of driver. You can access the device over the network using samba, or you can use ftp.

I came across this wiki page that has all sorts of hacks for the DNS-323:

Hope this helps.
