Cyborg RAT7 Gaming Mouse on Linux

I recently bought a Cyborg RAT7 gaming mouse and seem to be having some problems with Linux (specifically Slackware). It seems to get "captured" by windows/the desktop and the buttons don't work anywhere else except the window that has "captured" it. Sometimes buttons don't work at all. However, the mouse will always move, meaning its not getting disconnected or anything weird like that. This problem is no specific to any window manager. I'm currently using xorg 1.9.2 and I've confirmed that the mouse works properly by using it in Windows.

Any suggestions?

I am not sure if there are log files to look at for mouse activity. Mouse are consider serial devices and you may have to locate the file under /dev/mouse if I am not mistaken. So, the program your using has to know where the /dev/mouse device is.

Looks like this is a known bug with xorg.
It certainly sounds like what you are describing.

Some guys running Ubuntu ran into the problem and raised it with xorg, where there is a work-around in place.

Hope this helps.

Minor, but effective workraound

I've found that if you hit the button to the left of the left mouse button (the one with the cyborg head image- turns purple, blue and red) it changes the focus and you are able to click onto things you are trying to activate.
