CUPS and printer busy

Hi to everyone,
I have an Epson EPL-5900L printer and I use Slackware 12.2. I can't print any document.
CUPS detects my printer as EPSON EPL-5900L (EPSON EPL-5900L USB #1). If I try to print a test page, the Printers panel shows this:

EPSON_EPL-5900L_USB_1 "Printer is now on-line."

Description: EPSON EPL-5900L
Location: Local Printer
Printer Driver: Epson EPL-5900L Foomatic/epl5900l (recommended)

If I try to reprint the job, I got this error:

So I cancel the job and I start a new job.
Now the Printers panel shows this:

I cut last 11 lines of the log, because my post was too large.

Now If I run this command (ijs_server_epsonepl EPL-5900L /dev/usb/lp0), I get this output:

This happens also if I restart CUPS. Until I don't turn off and turn on again the printer, ijs_server_epsonpel shows that the printer is busy. After that, the output I get is this:

hi

3 suggestions.

1) toner supply 1% not good...consider replacing toner?
2) low toner behav. = 0 (go on) I am not sure if that means it will go on or remain off which is the meaning I normally associate with 0
3) your log suggests it was asking for root at some stage....I think slack still uses KDE so go into kde control center (kcontrol) and see if all users are allowed pls

I know, this happens because I don't have the Epson original toner, but a compatible one, almost full.

I don't think so. I use this printer in a virtual machine with Windows XP, and it works properly.

Yes, I use KDE. I went into KDE Control Center-->Peripherals-->Printers-->Properties-->Users. It shows "All users allowed".

I used this printer until Slackware 11.0. Since Slackware 12.0 it has never worked.

If I try to print a test page with KDE Control Center, in the last line of "Job IPP Report", there is this:

job-printer-state-reasons: connecting-to-device

Maybe is it a connectivity problem? With "lsusb" I can see my printer: Bus 002 Device 005: ID 04b8:0005 Seiko Epson Corp. Stylus D88+, and with Windows XP it works. I don't know what to do.

ok time to sound more vague

Printer and operating systems may have the following main issues:

1) broken hardware...check if printer works in other system ....done ...eliminated
2) wrong permissions...in linux...assume ok based on last report
3) cups not running.....check with some commands or restart cups
4) network not allowing crosstalk....I do not have a network for my printer...so can you explain if you mean ssh into box...samba...or lan or what please?

eg if you ssh in...you may need to restart cups?

are you able to do other things when in the other box?

are you able to access other files/executables in shared mode? etc

5) CUPS installed but driver is wrong?

since you mention D88...maybe we need to change driver?

I alrealy installed epsonepl driver from http://sourceforge.net/projects/epsonepl, but I used "Find New Printers" and CUPS give me a wrong URI (usb://EPSON/EPL-5900L), like explained in this site: http://www.openprinting.org/show_pri...pson-EPL-5900L.
