Created New Logical Volume on SAN - Need Linux to Detect It

I have just created a volume on a SAN and am unable to see the volume with in Linux. We have many other volumes on the SAN which are mounted by Linux. If I am not mistaken there a command needs to be run to update the volumes that Linux is aware of. I am not familiar with this command nor do I know which one it is. The server is running RedHat Linux Enterprise 4. If anyone could tell me how to make this volume available for use without rebooting the server it would greatly appreciated. Thank you!
