cpu problem

I wan't to underclock my CPU in order to have a fanless linux box. The problem is that when I do this the and restart it the computer doesn't do a thing, I have to reset the bios in order to get it running again. With the same mobo I've underclocked other cpu's so it is't the mobo. I think I'm now using a AMD athlonXP 1600+

erm.. are you asking for help? this certainly has nothing to do with Linux...

well for clocking, the cpu has to use a compatible FSB multipler and such... not all of them will work. experiment.
