CPU fan speed should i be worried

CPU fan speed should i be worried
i have just installed lm_sensors om my Centos 5.0 box when i checked the values i found this line
CPU_Fan: 3008 RPM (min = 4000 RPM) ALARM
should i be concerned about that i don't use my box for much just a home testing server i try random things out on.
so CPU usage is not to bad.
so my question to you is is this really a problem or should i leave it.

Scott.

Unless you are overclocking, the fan running at top speed only shows that the CPU temps are towards the higher (within limits) side.
Use systemguard or the "top" command to check if the CPU is being utilised 100%, and identify the process that is consuming all the cycles. It is is not required, stop it from running/autorunning.

Unless it is kjournald. Fedora (or Red Hat or CentOS) have the property to eat CPUs and give frequent jerks during working. On my office machine, which I am using from last 9 months it does so by running kjournald all the time but on my home machine running Arch Linux, I don't have any problem with kjournald.

Earlier I used Fedora, where I don't have any troubles with kjournald but it still ate my CPU all the time. Guess what, I stopped using RPM based distros.

What are the 'HSF' specifications? Motherboard specs? You did setup the 'lm-sensor' for your machine? You can look at 'Lm-sensors configuration files'. Just a few examples but you can get the idea or do a google for your MB.
