Counsel about video card
I am about to upgrade my hardware, and I am to decide which video card I am to buy. I can't decide between the series ATI-RADEON and ASU-NVIDIA. Are they both supported? Which is the most user friendly to install?
Thank you. P.S.: maybe I should have posted this in the Newbie sectin, but it is a hardware question, so... |
Having installed both types on many linux systems, I'd give the edge to NVidia as far as driver installation and timeliness in releasing new linux drivers. The ATI drivers are improving though and don't perform too badly at all. I have a radeon 8500 and I'm pretty happy with it's performance under linux.

ATI is better for windows. <--- DirectX
NVIDIA is better for linux. <--- OpenGL And ATI is a PAIN under linux. Search on this site, you'll find many threads about this comparaison. |
OK. I will buy the most indicated for Linux and to hell with windows. In my brief linux experience I already saw that MPLAYER is definitely better than any windows media player.
Which is the correct driver for ASU - NVIDIA FX5200 AGP8X (128MB) ? |
