Cool and quite under Linux for AMD ?

Does anybody know if there is support for "cool and quite" from AMD under Linux.

If it is, should something be installed? Can I see somewhere the real processor speed? In /proc/... I see allways the maximal speed of 2000 for a 3000+.

You mean... athcool?

I don't know, I looking in to it. I understand athcool cut the CPU from the bus while Cool & Quite should only lower the clock speed and keep it working. But I will have a closer look.

Somewhere I red it is the same technology as used in laptop models by AMD, but with another name.

Thanks for the suggestion

Here, athcool lowers temp by ~10C, almost. Can't live without it.

It doesn't seem to work. It looks it is made for other chipsets. There was a message "hardware not found" or something. I have to continue looking around.

Thanks anyway.

It finally works by recompiling the kernel(s). In 2.6 and in 2.4 (after installing patches)
Using CPUDYN and the documentation there.
