Connecting mp3 player thru usb

Hello I have a mp3 player (which also acts as a flash drive to store any kind of data) and I want to connect it to my linux box. In Windows, I just connect it to the usb port and it automatically shows up as drive E: in Windows Explorer. In Linux I'm assuming I have to mount it with "mount /dev/devicename". What is the device name?

Try /dev/sda1 after plugging it in,

so your mount command should look something like.

mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt/<mntpoint>

Some mp3 players are different, but I've seen this work.

Hotplugging must of course be working first (USB).
