Connect to internet with PCMCIA card

Hello There, I just installed gentoo on a laptop, when installing it woudl connect to internet wothout a problem, but after reboooting and going into the installed system ti does not connect, I don't know how to use a pcmcia card with linux, I mean with my desktop I know I have to use dhcp eth0 but how should I do it on the laptop? I tried dhcp eth0 but noluck, any ideas?
I build pcmcia support on the kernel, but maybe I am missing something, My laptop is a Thinkpad 390x and the card is a 3com

Hello there again, I got it to work, I had built pcmcia support in the kernel, but not PCMCIA networking support, I added that and now it works great!!!
