Configuring Hard disk
 
Hi,

I have an old computer system, that i am trying to set up as a linux server. i am having a problem configuring one of the hard disk, when i start the computer, it says, hard disk connected but not configured, how do i configure it?

Is the HD formatted? That could be the problem. Also check the BIOS to make sure it's up to date enough to cpe with your distro.

The harddisk is of old standard, that require some kind of configuration. i am not too sure what. i think it is formatted. but i am unable to access it as it is unconfigured.

i was told i have to set the switches or something on the back of the drive!!!

What kind of computer and hard drive is it?
