I am having a few problems with my modem, I have a just a cheap modem that I used open source conexant hsf driver to install.

The problem I am having is not connecting, it is staying connected, I get a lot of dropped lines, approx every 10minutes, the only indication in my /var/log/messages file is three sent packets in a row with no ACK before each disconnect with SIGHUP (A Modem hung up the phone) message. My ISP reports an error of lost carrier meaning it lost connection to my modem or something. This is not a problem under windows.

I am a newb so don't really know where the problem is, would it be my wvdial.conf or perhaps a configuration issue with pppd, what other information would you need to solve this issue? Or has anyone experienced a similar problem?
