Compiz + Hercules 3D Prophet 4000xt?
I have a custom built PC running ubuntu here, I was hoping to use compiz with it, it has a Hercules 3D Prophet 4000XT Graphics card, and a pentium 4 2.0ghz but changing the visual effects to something better in appearance tells me it could not be done, and using compizconfig settings manager didn't do much, nothing worked, is there anything I could install to make compiz work
EDIT: Its ubuntu 9.04 jaunty, with all updates installed |
What is the output of 'lspci | grep -i vga'?

Sorry, but you won't be able to run compiz on that GPU. It's known to run on ATI, nvidia, and intel GPUs, and some people have even reported success with VIA GPUs. At one point, well before compiz even existed, Kyro actually produced 3D drivers for their cards, but I don't believe that is the case any more.

AWWWW, I had a good NVidia Geforce graphics card in my old computer, unluckily it was an onboard graphics card, also the card can only be as old as 2001 or 2002, as the driver disc contains drivers for xp and even a guide on installing them on xp
