Compatibility of broadband cellular modems, Network-Manager & kernel

Where & how would be good to do a list of cellular modems compatible with kernel, Network-Manager & perhaps distributions?
NM works with a modem If it has data for modem and kernel with driver for modem and desktop does not wreck it, so this would not just be a kernel hardware compatibility list.
Suggestions?
