Classify AMD K5?

Can someone please enlighten me as to which class of processor an AMD K5 belongs to, i.e. is it i486 or i586?

And subsequently, what distro could I install on this machine, 16Mb RAM, 4Gb HDD and K5 CPU?

Thanks.

I believe the K5 was supposed to be Pentium compatible, so i586.

Thanks for that ZooL, I have searched without success for a site that defines the AMD processors, but that is what I suspected.
