choppy sound on GL Games/Applications

Ok, I have so far managed to get my ATI Radeon X-1600 working but I keep stumbling over another issue: When I run GL games such as Slune, Balazar, etc. the sound gets really choppy and scratchy. I tried it with alsa, oss, Esound with no improvement and the games won't even start with oss as the sound server. What can I do to fix this? Is this a bug in the fglrx driver or do I have to do some specific settings that I'm not aware of?

Make sure artsd is not running and you are not using any sound mixers that may delay the sound. Also stop any daemons that you are not using and turn off any services that are not needed when the Linux boots up. If any power saving modes are enabled, disable them.

I suggest listing your computer's specs and modules that it uses, so I or others can make other suggestions.
