Checking what hardware you have


How do I check what hardware I have from the command line. I know redhat/fedora has a hardware browser but I'm curios to see how you would do it. (like cpu, hard drive etc).

you can look in the /proc folder and type stuff like cat /proc/cpuinfo and it'll give you info on your cpu, and you can just play with the other different things in there such as pci, meminfo ,etc... also for your harddrives you can type something like hdparm -iI /dev/hda and find out more than enough info on your harddrive... change the hda with the device you want to look at...
