Hi Everyone,
I have a CentOS 5.2 Linux system here running Kernel 2.6.18-92.1.10.el5. The system I have has only one (1) PCI-Express interface with an Intel Card. The driver for this card is a e1000e according to the Intel website. I have compiled the driver here are the details

lsmod output

Here is the lspci output. The card does not seem to be there however the PCI Express port is up

'lsmod' : If 'e1000' is included too, it will be used,
and prevent the function of 'e1000e'
http://lwn.net/Articles/278016/

I guess, e1000 can be blacklisted.?
