" no medium found" is the error message i get when i try to mount my cdrom. till y'day it worked fine. i did another partition of my hdd and loaded another version of linux. Now when i try to mount cd in the earlier partition(hda2) the cdrom refuses to mount . getting the above mentioned error.
did mapping of /dev/cdrom to hdc and integrated it to the ide etc. now the error is "/DEV/CDCROM IS NOT A VALID BLOCK DEVICE".
Help me i am in dire straits.
I have tried the changes metioned, but the error message is still "NO MEDIUM FOUND".Let me put down the genesis of the problem once again. Prior to my repartioning of the hdd i used to boot my system with the help of cdrom . After repartitioning , I had left the disk numbered 4 in the drive when i had shut the system. Now the phenomenon observed is that, when ever any other disk is in the drive the linux box does not make any attempt to read, but when disk 4 ,the systems makes many unsuccessful attempt in mounting it. I had read some where along the way that the user who mounts a drive should be logged in to unmount it. But here i am talking about a system which has been shut and rebooted.
I appreciate very much your suggestions.
