comment.type BOOLEAN
iface MIXER

}

is there someone using succesfully the same motherboard that can paste here modules.conf or modprobe.conf ?
is there someone able to play music with the same cdrom ?

which cable? both?

besides the power cable there also is an audio cable that plugs in to the back of the CD-Drive and goes to the audio input on either the sound card or audio input on the motherboard (depending on your hardware)...

both cables.......

Hi

all the cables power, ide, and 4 wire are connected...
the 4 wire cable left, ground, ground.right is connected to the mother board cd connector
i swapped the cdrom with another but the effect is the same.....
i checked the connector with a probe and the cable is good ...no shorts..
so it remains the motherboard and the sw...
so please ..if someone is using the same chipset...then it will be helpful for me to have the modprobe.conf and the asound.state settings...

thanks in advance

do you have libcdaudio installed? just a guess, was it playing audio CDs before? or is this a new install of Linux?

hi

finally i find...
i toggle off with alsamixer all the controls with volume not adjustable ...and i start to hear music from the cd ...i have not idea of which control can cause problem with cd playing ,i do not go back
one by one to check the culprit...

try this (in a root or su terminal):
run alsamixer to set the volumes, the "M" key toggles mute on & off M means mute and 00 is unmute (use the arrow up key to push the volumes up)...

after you get your volume levels where you want them run "alsactl store" to save the volume levels so you don't have to unmute and adjust the volume every time you log on...
