Hi guys !
I'm just gutting an old 486 Box to rebuild as a
Linux prototyping platform for configuring
HDDs for an old 486 (CDROM & Network Less)
Laptop.
Yes I know I could spend AU$12 and put in
an IDE CDROM. But I like a challenge !
Is there any compatibility information available for
Red Hat Linux 5.2 (Yes 5.2
) for the following
hardware ? :
CD-ROM controller COR334
FCC ID KGACDU31A2
Description:
ISA 8-Bit card. Approx 4x4 Inches
1x 34 pin Header (To CDROM)
1x 4 pin Audio header (To CDROM)
1x o/p audio jack
4x Headers with jumpers (Top RHS)
Config:
JP1 -x--
JP2 x---
JP3 x---
JP4 ----
Chip count: 7 ICs. Including a 24 Pin PAL.
1x Attached CDROM
CD-ROM CDU33A-C3 Sony Branded Creative
2 Speed. Appears to be Non IDE
(At one time these were shipped with SB cards
using the Creative SB interface)
Questions :
-----------
Anyone seen a manual for the controller card
or config information for the CDROM?
Anyone know if it was successfully setup under
Red Hat 5.2 ?
Best regards
Chris
