CD ROM issues MDK 10

Hello all

I just installed Mandrake 10 and am having problems with the CD ROM. It installed no problem, but when I put in a CD, and I go to /mnt/cdrom, it shows no files. I even tried to login as root, and it still will not read the CD ROM. Any ideas?

I had no problem using it in MDK 9.2. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

WIERD UPDATE: It works no problem when I use the "Install Software" feature of MDK

If you click on KMenu->System->Configuration->Hardware->CD Properties
you will get a CD and DVD Preferences dialog.

On my system, I do have to wait until the system mounts the cdrom. Remember that with cd-roms, it is the filesystem on the disk that is mounted. So if there is a problem with the disk, it will not mount.
For comparison, here is the /mnt/cdrom entry from my /etc/fstab file.
Code:
/dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom auto umask=0022,user,iocharset=iso8859-1,codepage=850,noauto,ro,exec 0 0

How did you get your CDROM working? I'm having the same problem, thanks.

To be honest, It was more of a stupid thing on my part. I guess that MDK 9.2 auto-mounted the CD-ROMs and I assumed that MDK 10 would do the same thing. So I just mounted it and it all worked well

mount /mnt/cdrom

worked for me, I hope it works for you Izzy

I'm pretty sure Mandrake 10 does automount...

The solutions at that link don't seem to work with me, so I guess it'll be manually mounting till I can figure things out. Thanks for the reply.
