CD-509 U2 (ide-to-usb enclosure case)
Hi there.
I bought few years ago an external ide-to-usb case, CD-509 U2. Until last year I have used it with usb1.0 and usb1.1 protocols without problems on Slackware Linux (and Red Hat 8) and Windows XP SP2 computers (desktops and laptops). However, when I try to use it with usb2.0 protocol it fails when I write to the enclosed hdd !! (the vendors say that it is usb2.0 compatible). On Linux machines the operating system gets stuck and I have to reboot, while on windows machines perform the writing with errors and finally damaging the FAT of the hdd. Afterwards I need to use some recovery tools in order to repair the FAT. In Linux the enclosure case is identified as 05e3:0701 Genesys Logic, Inc. Optical Drive As the problem appears only when I use the usb2.0 protocol, I expect that there might be some issues with the internal controller of the case. Anybody has encountered similar situations ? Also, I would appreciate any suggestion in solving this problem. Thank you, Adrian |
