I have just added an Acer Prisa 620u scanner and I have Mandrake 9.When I went to the config utility Mandrake configuration utility and hardware ,clicked, it proceeded to ask for cd1 and installed some packages for the scanner.It then said my scanner was not in the data base configure manually I said yes and a list came up and under Acer there it was and I clicked on it and it said it was configured and I could use my scanner through xsane on my desktop.Anyway I tried and xsane says no device ???? Sorry about the long winded post but where do I go from here?

i have a acer/benq 620u also, i went to the sane site and found it is supported , i downloaded everything it said i need but can't any sense out of trying to get it installed.
i am a newbie with ubuntu 6.06 lts .
