cant seem to get my brother HL-630 to work directly connected to my IBM Thinkpad 600

I tried to install the printer using the lpd install feature in Linux Red Hat 8.0 and it does not even burp the printer. I found that the driver for this printer is similar (works with) the HP laser jet2 printer. And so what is that supposed to mean to me?

I had this printer working fine on my windows 98 SE machine (sic!) but it is shy when it gets attached to the printer port on the Thinkpad .

Can you help??

Did the installer "auto-scan" and find your printer?
