Can't copy files from Fuji Feinpix F30

Hi guys!

I'm having problems copying files from my Fuji Feinpix F30 to the hdd. I'm using openSuse10.2. The interesting part is, that the systems recognizes the camera. I can even see the filenames in konqueror and browse the folders. (very slow though). Copying most likely fails The most recent error Konquerer throws is 'Unknown error Could not lock the device' approx 3 min after starting the copying of 12 pics.

There is supposed to be a problem with Linux and Fuji's initial firmware. The update to 1.02 didn't help either.

dmesg looks good to me:
usb 4-3: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 3
usb 4-3: new device found, idVendor=04cb, idProduct=019b
usb 4-3: new device strings: Mfr=0, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
usb 4-3: Product: USB PTP Camera
usb 4-3: SerialNumber: xxx
usb 4-3: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice

I appreciate your help

I'm having the same problem with my Canon PSA430 on opensuse 10.2, which is also listed as a USB PTP camera. I hope someone answers this.

I can blame it on myself because I upgraded from 10.1 without a clean install so I was bound to mess something up. Did you do the same?

I am experiencing the same problems with a Kodak DX3500 under Simply Mepis and (k)ubuntu, using a program called digikam. It shows thumbnails, it lets you select the ones you want and then when the actual transfer to the hard drive has to take place it will say something like: "cannot copy filename.jpg. skip?" I have send a few emails to the developers of the program but although they seem very helpful, the answers so far have not made the difference for me. the only way it seems to work is when i start the computer with the mepis live cd (may be it will work with any live distro) and use digikam from there. there must be something different in some (to me) unknown setting or .conf file. I don't believe I am doing something wrong as there isn't much to configure in digikam and i have the problem on every pc in both mepis and ubuntu. Good advice will be appreciated. thanks.
