It could be the drive itself as this suggests it has issues in Window$ as well:

As a short note for this thread. K3B works great for my BD-RE media now on Fedora 13.

[cuppett@home ~]$ k3b --version
Qt: 4.6.2
KDE Development Platform: 4.4.4 (KDE 4.4.4)
K3b: 1.92.0

Thanks for the tip, I now have more reasons to try Fedors 13.
Do you have the same drive/model?
