Unhappy Canon iP3300 FC5

I just connected a Canon iP3300 photo color printer and am unable to find drivers for it. Guess I should have checked for drivers first eh??? CUPS doesn't have that printer as an option. It is connected to USB and when I tried configuring it with a Generic PostScript driver I get an error that the printer is refusing connection.

On boot up the printer is discovered on the usb.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have done Google searches for linux, iP3300 without any positive result.

Canon has notoriously poor Linux support. They're very close-lipped about their interfaces.

Right now it looks like there are a couple of drivers that give partial support, but you can't do everything with them yet.

Is this is a new printer model? The for-cost Turboprint driver supports most Canon printers, but this one isn't listed right now. If it's a new model though perhaps they'll add it in the future.

Canon iP3300

Thanks David for the response, althought it wasn't what I really wanted to hear :-)

It is a new model photo printer so maybe a driver will come along in the future.

I understand. At least you have some support and hope for more in the future. I got stuck with a Canon scanner a few years ago that is still unsupported even today.

Lesson learned: always confirm support before you buy.
