cannot mount usb pen
 

Hi everybody
I have an usb pen drive/mp3 player t-logic. I can't get it mounted on my linux slackware 9.1 kernel 2.4.24 (it doesnt work with 2.6.3 as well).

I suppose I installed all the modules needed, but i still get error mounting:

mount /mnt/usb/
mount: /dev/sda2 is not a valid block device

I suppose the device is sda2 as i get from cdrecord --scanbus the following

Since you seem to have support for it, I can't really help you on that. So I'm just going to post to show that I care but unfortunately am confused myself. :(

The dmesg output looks like bad news. If your 2.6.3 kernel had all USB support enabled I think you may be out of luck.

There seem to be many, many different models of pen drive/mp3 players around. The one I checked out did not even work directly in windows, and could only be accesses through the supplied driver software.

If you can try it in windows, and it gets recognised immediately as a removable drive maybe you have a chance to get it working in linux. But if even windows needs a special driver, what chance have you got?

Only t-logic hit I got from google was:

Mp3 reader adapted to the young people, much colorful one and from the rectangular shape :)

Any further developments on this ??

I too bought a USB MP3 player that said it didnt need drivers for Win2K or WinXP, thus figured that was a good sign for Linux to work ok (in my experience) but no go.

The system see's it as /dev/sda or /dev/sdb but when going to mount, it errors.
I fdisked it and it seemed to go fine, but still no mount.

I have tried a SuSe 9.1 system and a Mandrake 10.1 system.

IS their module perhaps for this ?? THe SuSe system is seeing it as a generis SND1 MP3 player, just like the thread starter.

Any ideas would be welcome.

(When oh when will hardware developers consider Linux (Apple too) in their development of products)
