cannot go from 1024x768 to 1280x800... any Help ?


while installation also i was trying to get the resolution of 1280x800,

but my Mandrake 10.1 didnt take anything more than 1024x768.

So even now when i try to change that using the 'config. yur comp' module, it screen just goes black, i can see the mouse but then after a few secs the mouse also freezes.

any options ??

I assume that you have a wide-screen laptop.
Try googling for "1280x800" modeline

Some possible XF86config modelines:

Check your monitor in the monitor section of XF86Config. Are HorizSync and [/i]VertRefresh[/i] set according to specs of your monitor? This could explain the black screen but not the mouse problem.
Anything in the Xorg logfiles in /var/log ?
