Cannot get Xsane Image Scanner to work with HP5610 All in One

I need some help with my HP 5610 all in one device scanner settings please. The printer works fine, I have a problem getting the Scanner to work.

I am running Ubuntu Karmic on my Dual Core Desktop PC. When I run Xsane I get the preview window showing OfficeJet 5600 Series. I also get another little error window saying "Error during CMS conversion:Could not open Scanner ICM profile". It seems like Xsane recognises my HP 5610 All in One Printer/Scanner/Fax/Copier device but what is the error all about?

Thank you in advance

my guess is that sane does not have the ICM[1] profile. talk to HP for information, they do support linux. or simply disable ICM profiles.

[1] ICM: a image calibration profile.

From HP...

There is a HPLIP driver for the 5610 from HP that includes scanner function.

Thanks for that. I downloaded the latest hplip driver from HP. At least I now have a menu. I can do a scan as well, however I still get the annoying ICM message. How do I disable the ICM profiles??

That I don't know...

Have you removed the packages from the first installation of your HP 5610? I am just guessing at a cause for the ICM message.

I hope they are all gone! When I did the updated installation, I seem to recall seeing a message saying something like "removing old or previous packages"
