Can you put a micro ATX motherboard in an ATX box?

The following has all I am looking for to replace a broken motherboard except it is micro ATX instead of ATX. Is there a way to fit the micro ATX in the ATX tower if nothing as good is found in ATX form factor?

The old tower is a super quiet one, with rubber under many screws, would rather keep it.

Just measure the screw placings in the case and compare them with the motherboard? I'm fairly sure the manufacturers of my case state mini ITX (is it) but I have no idea about micro so - would just pop the side behind the motherboard off and measure...

It's been a long time, but I believe that the micro ATX just smaller than an ATX layout but the screw layout is identical.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MicroATX

"microATX was explicitly designed to be backward-compatible with ATX. The mounting points of microATX motherboards are a subset of those used on full-size ATX boards, and the I/O panel is identical. Thus, microATX motherboards can be used in full-size ATX cases."
