can I put my fan into the HCL?

I am going to put my new laser printer (:D:D ) into the HCL soon, since I didn't see it there. While I'm there, does the HCL take entries for fans? I could mention that my CPU fan is relatively noisy (and not due to age--it's about six months old).

Since there's not a category for CPU coolers, and since a cooler is by nature neither compatible nor incompatible with any particular operating system (Linux in this case) my suggestion would be to change this very thread's title to something involving the make/model of the CPU cooler, and just telling us about it right here.

This is just my take on the situation -- others are certainly welcome to offer suggestions on this issue. And/Or, if you're inclined, make a suggestion in 'Suggestions and Feedback' and ask if Jeremy would be interested in creating maybe a 'miscellaneous' category in the HCL, for devices like this that aren't really subject to compatibility with Linux specifically, but which people might like to know about before buying one.

Congrats on the new printer!

Sasha

Good point. Thanks for reminding me that the HCL is about compatibility with Linux, not whether hardware is good.

By the way, here is my HCL entry on the HP LaserJet P1006, if anyone is considering buying one. The short of it is that the P1006 and its Linux driver work well enough, if not perfectly (it loses print jobs if they get interrupted, as from running out of paper), in Linux.
