Can't boot off a PERC2 HW RAID card

I have a Dell Poweredge 4350 with an AMI PERC2 RAID controller and two 18 GB disks. I added an external SCSI disk to do the initial installation and configuration. I am now up and running with Slackware 9.1 plus kernel 2.6.5. The RAID array is configured for RAID-1, and the kernel sees the controller during boot time, and I have been able to partition it and format it from Linux. I also have copied the contents of my boot disk to the array, with proper permissions, etc. I can mount the filesystem if I boot from the MBR of the external disk. I can't boot from the RAID disk alone. I've tried this with RAID-0 configurations as well. Does anyone out there know how to boot from a RAID array on a PERC2?

Also, I have upgraded the system BIOS and the controllere firmware with the most recent images.

After I boot, I get something like this:

<hw messages>

L 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 99

etc

Thanks,

Jeff
