Can't see entire desktop on monitor

I just installed Mint 14 KDE (64 bit), effects wouldn't work so went ahead and installed the video driver. Rebooted and effects all work great but now the desktop does not fill the entire monitor, there are black bars all around it.

VC: SAPPHIRE 100355L Radeon HD 7850 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16
Mon: Asus VE248H

Anyone know how I can fix this?

Good grief! Ha,well, just for the heck of it I tried using a DVI cable (it was hooked up with an HDMI) and no black bars now. Not sure what the deal is with the HDMI but I guess I need to get another spare DVI cable.
