can't read /Wav

Hi,

I have a wierd issue:
when I try to open an audio or a movie file, I get the error message
"can't open /Wav."
and there's no sound.

I tried re-installing the driver and trouble shooting, but nothing helps.
even tried fiddeling with the Kmix, but nothing.

PLEASE HELP!

depends on what program your using. You need to point those .wav to the program your using. Depending on what your using there's different ways.

are you storing your music/video files in /Wav? Odd that it should reference what seems to be a folder.

Hi there,

I had the same problem reading .wav files. I could not get them to work properly.

After looking alot around the web, my problem was that .wav are essentially made for some Windows software. So I just needed to install a tarball that made it recognize the Windows format of these files.

If you want to try it out, the tarball is called essential. I have "essential-20050216" version. It could be that you find some newer version. You decompress the tarball and copy its content to the directory (that I had to create) "/usr/lib/win32/".

I hope that will solve your problem.

Cheers

thanks.

I'll try that.

but you should know that the files (movies and music) where working fine, and one day, all of a sudden, I started getting that wierd message.

did you do anything to make those files stop working you think? cos maybe I did the same. (without knowing)

Did you problem happened with files that use to work? Because, if it is with new files that you just put on your system, the coding could be different. Windows keep on changing the coding of their files, just for you to get the newest software to decode them.

Anyways, I think you should try this solution. If it does not work, let us know.

Cheers

Now somehow I got the headphones to work...?

could it be that my dist is unstable? cos I seem to have random problems every like fewdays-few weeks.
