Can't print Suse 10.2

I'm trying to set up a printer in Suse 10.2.
I ran Yast, set it up there, print test page. Works Great.
Yast says it launched command lpr -Pi450 .......\test.ps and i get a nice little test page.
Then i try something like "lpr test.pdf" and nothing happens.
Just to be sure I converted it to ps with pdf2ps and tried "lpr -Pi450 test.ps" again, nothing.
Running lpq displays all the stuff i set to the printer. But nothing gets printed!

Could someone suggest any reason for this at all? Does Yast issue some other command to actually start printing? lpr should work right?

Printer is a Cannon i450

Any suggestions welcome!
