Can't Get USB Headset To Work

Hello Everyone
I'm running Mepis Linux and can't get my USB headset to operate. I don't know where to begin, any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

ran the lspci command which returned the following:

That's what we need: the Vendor/Product ID. Three clues: here (Cyber Acoustics (C-Media) AC-850), here (Gembird GEMBIRD AP-5.1) and here (RadioShack Gigaware USB Stereo Headset 43-122). First two supporting that it's usable in Linux with the "yealink" module, last entry gives details about VoIP, mixers and USB buttons.
