I upgeaded my kernel now when I try sound on I get this
Quote:
[root@localhost tmp]# soundon
Disabling the kernel sound driver
Failed to activate the driver
Probably caused by a technical problem.
See /usr/lib/oss/logs/soundon.log for more info.
/usr/lib/oss/scripts/showprocs.sh: line 1: fuser: command not found
ERROR: Module osslinux does not exist in /proc/modules
I posted my soundon.log here
I tried running oss-install but that didn't help.
Unless I stumble upon something, I guess that I'm now just your cheerleader. I can't think of anything (at least now) that you haven't unturned. All the wquestions I have had, you've readily had the answers for, so I am exhausted of solutions right now. You must be frustrated. Maybe you'll have to write the driver.
well, if anything.. you did give me some insight, so you've been a good cheerleader... I'm in contact with the developers at OSS so I hope they know something I don't.. That Envy24PT for ALSA site seems dead (it was started last month!) oh well..... The problem seems close to being solved.. I feel like there's just one thing missing.. I'll figure it out sooner or later..
I noticed that was a dyndns account. They probably hosted it on their own puter. My friend does that. I had one set up for a while so I could run an ftp server to transfer files to and from my brother a while ago.
kenoichi, are you referring to things like playing an mp3 with xmms and not hearing the sound from your instant messenger until after the song is done? Or is it something else?

As the sites admin (and founder) I can say that the site is not dead, more like in limbo... We are waiting from word of the ALSA devel that is from the alsa feature request here: https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/al...bug_id=0000142 Once that goes through then we should all have ALSA sound for free, flawlessly
