Can't get PCMIA CDROm to work
New to Linux
Pleased to get Debian installed on my Fujitsu Lifebook B142 using the root/boot floppies (system will only boot from floppy or HD). Fortunately the rtl8150 driver worked for the USB ethernet and net install proceeded.
I can't get the PCMCIA CDROM working. We have lights. We have a single low beep on insert, high beep on removal.
Cardctl info:
PRODID_1="KME"
PRODID_2="KXLC005"
PRODID_3="00"
PRODID_4=""
MANFID= 0032,2704
FUNCID=8
cardctl status:
5v 16 bit PC card
function 0: [ready], [wp]
Linux version: 2.4.27-2-686 gcc 3.3.5 debian1:3.3.5-12
Not even sure how to start debugging this, spent some hours (in the wrong places apparently) already.
An entry close to the id was found in /etc/pcmcia/config; the manfid was 0032,0704 for a KME KXLC005 pcmia cdrom; I changed the digit. The ide_cs tried to load but failed (seen in syslog):
cardmgr executing modprobe ide_cs
kernel ide_cs: ide_register() at 0x190 & 0x396, irq 3 failed
get dev info on socket 0 failed: resource temporarily unavailable
This does not lock up the computer. Using scsi - qlogic_cs locks up the computer
Can you guide me here?
