Can't get pc to boot from optical drive

Hi,
I have a pc with linux mint installed, and wanted to try edubuntu with my kids. The first time we tried, it booted just fine from the dvd, as the bios is already set to boot from dvd as priority. So it ran off of RAM.

Subsequent tries however, result in the pc booting mint from the hdd, and no sign of edubuntu at all.
I have tried different distros/isos, but to no avail. I have also opened the box to see if the dvd drive had somehow come unplugged.

Can anyone give me any ideas for proceeding please?

cheers,
Howard.

Go into your bios setup and make sure your dvd drive is being detected and check to make sure you have the dvd drive first in your boot order sequence. If everything is alright in the bios, see if you can boot with any other bootable cd you have around to eliminate any problem that particular edubuntu cd. Also, check to make sure the dvd drive is functioning properly in mint and any other OS you have installed.

You dvd drive may just need a cleaning; it may just be a faulty cd; it may be that your bios reset to its defaults because of an weak motherboard battery; it may be your dvd drive is going bad; or it may be something I haven't thought of. Checking the above will help limit things down.

Hi,

You are sure that the CD/DVD was created by burning the ISO image?
Valid Image?

agree with the other posts. Make sure that you are burning the image to the CD and not just burning an iso to a DVD. put your eubuntu cd in the drive while running Mint and see what files display in the file browser.
