Can't get brother MFC-J480 Printer to work - Printer not responding.

Hi, I run Ubuntu 14.04 on a Latitude E6510.
Downloaded drivers from brother. Printer recognizes network. Laptop finds printer. Printer can't be accessed, however. Including pertinent screen shots to aid in fixing this. |
I assume at the second picture you chose "ignore and install"? Did you install the other packages as well? According to the docs I read on Brothers site you should install all the LPR drivers followed by all the cupswrapper drivers.
|
The page where the drivers are found also has an install script which will take care of installing the printer and scanner drivers: use it.
Here is a guide which you may find useful in getting the printer working: https://sites.google.com/site/easylinuxtipsproject/15. Brother printers: how to install them in Ubuntu and Linux Mint |

Thanks for your replies,
BigRigDriver I did what you suggested and the printer still will not respond. The bad message stuff is now gone though. Any Ideas? Thanks R |
If you are using a 64bit version of Ubuntu 14.04, have you installed the necessary support for 32bit programs? See Pre-required Procedure (5) at http://support.brother.com/g/s/id/li...edirect=on#002
Can you ping the printer by name? i.e. Does 'ping -c2 BRW441CA84A12D1' show the printer responding? When I run 'lpstat -t', my Brother device is listed as: Code:
