Camera only works as root.

Hey,

I have an Aiptek Mini Pencam 1.3 Mega, although I don't think my question really relates specifically to the model of camera I figured I would include it just in case. I plugged in the Camera, USB, and booted my computer. I was kind of shocked that Linux automatically detected and installed the camera for me. Anyway, my question comes in the fact that I can run the camera and download pictures, using DigiKam, as long as I am running as root. When I try to run access the camera as a normal user it says;
"Camera Error : Failed to initialize camera.
Please ensure camera is connected properly and turned on."
The camera is plugged in and turned on, when I connect it to the computer it automatically turns itself on.
Also when I go to the KDE Control Center and click Peripherals - Digital Camera, when I do a "Test" I get the error;
"Unable to initialize camera. Check your port settings and camera connectivity and try again."
When I do a "test" as root I get a message saying something along the lines of the camera being ready, I don't remember the exact message. Any help would be appreciated. I guess my thinking is some sort of permissions problem?

I am running SUSE 8.2 just so ya know.

Thanks,
Tool

Here's a quote from this url:

//--------------------------------------------------------------------
cameras
are accessed by way of the hardware-scanning KDE mechanism. The access permissions of the device file are additionally set by /etc/hotplug/usb/usbcam to those of the logged-in user so he can access the device when using KDE.
//--------------------------------------------------------------------

hope this helps.
