C-Media CMI8738 digital input doesn't work

Hi,

on my MSI motherboard KT400 exists an onboard soundcard with the well known CMI8738 chip. Originally there's no digital input (S/PDIF in) only a digital out connector. So I soldered a digital input connector because this pin from the chip is only connected to the pinheader on the mainboard, leaving the mainbaord and ends unconnected in the bracket which comes with the mainboard. At this wire I soldered a 0.1uf capacitor (DC absorber) and a 75 ohm resistor with one pin to digital input connector and the other pin to ground (75R input impedance). I hope this is ok, because the digital output connector has a resistor and a capatitor on this small pcb placed at the bracket.

When I now insert a digital signal from a satellite receiver or cd player, I can't hear anything. I use the cmpci chip tuner tool 'cmictl' or the graphical frontend 'gcmictl' to activate the S/PDIF input pin of the chip and activated monitoring. The soundchip is currently in 2 channel mode but listening or recording is not possible.

Anyone who has the same problem or knows a solution/tip?

Li

PS: listening to sounds (mp3, ogg) works fine, but I've not testet if the analogue input works, so both soundmodules soundcore and cmpci are loaded.
