That's a nice article covering the history of RAM development, but with all due respect it does not support your earlier claim. About the closest it comes is to say that RAM can be overclocked, but that's kind of the opposite of your contention that the RAM designation is artificially high (ie, that DDR400 is really only 333, etc)
I would point you to the
DDR article on Wikipedia, which is generally considered to be a well accepted source of information. As you'll see, there is a correlation between the label number (eg, DDR 400) and the effective clock rate. For the case of DDR 400, the effective clock rate is, well, 400Mz.
In any event, clearly this thread has outlived its usefulness and I think we both have better things to do than bicker. Regards.
