I'm looking at making a budget system, and I was wondering if their were any know problems and if drivers would be a problem for a Gigabyte GA-MA74GM-S2 mother board?
There are very few driver issues with Linux these days. If this was Windows, I'd worry, but Linux isn't a problem. Just pick an up-to-date distro and go for it.
It looks like that motherboard doesn't support AM2+ processors very well (Phenom, etc) as it slows down the bus for AM2+. I've got an ECS 7050M-M that works pretty good. I've never looked, so mine may have the same issue.
Note:
* If you install AMD AM2+ CPU on AM2 motherbord, the system bus speed will downgrade from HT3.0(5200MHz) to HT1.0(2000 MT/s) spec; however, the frequency of AM2+ CPU will not be impacted. Please refer "CPU Support List" for more information.
