Buffer I/O error when attaching CF card

Hi there,
I just bought a new 6 in one card reader from viking. It works well with SD cards, but I am having a problem with my CF card. Here is the output from dmesg:

Code:

sda : READ CAPACITY failed.
sda : status=0, message=00, host=1, driver=00
sda : sense not available.
sda: assuming Write Enabled
sda: assuming drive cache: write through
/dev/scsi/host56/bus0/target0/lun0:<3>Buffer I/O error on device sda, logical block 0
 unable to read partition table
Attached scsi removable disk sda at scsi56, channel 0, id 0, lun 0
uname -a gives
Code:
Linux boris 2.6.11-1-386 #1 Mon Jun 20 20:53:17 MDT 2005 i686 GNU/Linux
Does anyone have any clue what is going on?

Rhys
