BT Voyager problems with certain distros

I have been experimenting with a few different linux distros but am having problems getting my BT Voyager 105 usb modem to work with most of them.
I have downloaded drivers for the modem and it works fine with debian, ubuntu and PCLinuxOS.
When I try with vidalinux, blag, berry, vector, slax and gNOX, the driver installs but when I try to start the modem I get this error -
Code:
warning: n_hdlc support not found in kernel config
and the modem fails to connect.
Can anyone help with this problem?

well that's a kernel feature not been compiled in. if you really want to make it work with those ones (no idea why you would if others support it..) then you'd be looking at recompiling the kernel including full hdlc support i would assume.
